Breeding Mollies

I'm not sure if she will, but my molly just gave birth to 8 the other day and there all gone now.
I do have 2 platys but they never seemed bothered with them.
So it could have been her.

I find my dalmation molly females chase the fry but they dart away quicker than the adults can catch them. Plenty of plants with give the fry security.

The answer is yes they will, all most livebearers will eat thier young, mollies do tend to have a better survival rate though as the fry are pretty big to most fry.

in my experience any live bearers that can fit another fish(fry) in there mouth will almost definitly eat them. natures way i guess :)

Yeah they will eat their own fry, If you want to save some of your fry, you can have lots of hiding places for they fry, by having lots of plants, hornwort and java moss works fine.

You can always do what I did. I put the female alone in a tank with lots of cover. As soon as she was done she went back to the community tank. That was 3 weeks ago, now my 30 molly fry are about 1/2 to 3/4 inch long and everything in between. In a few more weeks they will be safe in my community tank but right now they are big enough to be safe with just mollies and platies. The added time is so they'll be safe with the gold barbs, angel, and herotilapia multispinosa. The barbs are 2 inches, the angel is 5 inches and the rainbows are about 5 inches.
Picture is a rainbow cichlid or herotilapia multispinosa.
