So who shall i choose. I have a lovely blue cambodian female shown in the (very poor) pics below

I'm very tempted to go with the white HM but he's a bit of a wimp. I love the gold male too.

Help me decide...what would you pair up.

Andy

The white halfmoon, HM are more desirable anyway but the beautiful cambos, whites and pastels you would get will be lovely, the yellow might kick back some muddy 'wild' colouration

I'd go with the pink VT. Your white guy has white covering his eyes...not a trait you want to pass on as it leads to blindness. Also- with a female VT and a male HM, you'll get VTs, so the tail type isn't an option to choose. The pink VT would put out some nice colors with the while cellophane/cambo girl you have, IMO.

I'd go with white HM or pink VT :good:

Well...in the end, i didn't go with any of those males.

Instead, i'm going for this gorgeous HM male with the blue cam girlie.

You're worse than a woman for changing your mind Andy   but he is gorgeous

They're looking good :good: How long do you keep your females in the chimney for?

Probably 2 days at the most...then i'll either let her out or decide by her colouring and general attitude that she's not ready.

I always try to time it so i'm around for a few days just in case i need to get either of them out.

Luckily I'm always home and Andy works evenings so don't have a problem there. We're gonna start conditioning my new FT and a female today and hopefully spawn them in a couple of weeks time when the last lot of fry are a month old. It's always harder with the Cambo females as you can't see the breeding bars on them.

Well it all went a little bit "Pete Tong".

You know when you get that get feeling that either one or t'other of the potential parents just ain't going to do the business....well i had that feeling about the female...she just didn't look interested in the chimney when the male approached.

So i swapped her for a lovely blue CT girlie yesterday.

Well she looked just right for spawning and an hour or so ago i let her out. The male had built a small buble nest over night but i was still a bit concerned about hime....he was'nt displaying much and spent most of his time at the other end of the tank in the almond leaves.

She went straight under the nest very reluctantly followed by the male who had stopped flaring altogether now. After about ten minutes, i think she must've got fed up and started laying into the male. Several one inch long chunks of tail later and i decided to get him out as would've probably killed him.

So....crowntail girlie is back in the jar and a new boy....the pinky VT above has been added. He's already started building his nest and is going mad at the female...who is barring up nicely and adopting that submissive, head down attitude.

Fingers crossed but i won't be letting her out until tomorrow at the latest.

Andy
