i am sad to say that my home bred black orchid VT has died today. he showed no symtoms other than being a litle lethargic and shy of the surface since being moved into his new home a couple of weeks ago. he was alive when i went to work today, but came home to find him dead this evening. he may have taken some sort of reaction to medication being added to the water to treat a case of finrot in one of his neighbours(which was also very sudden, thou i suspect tailbiting too).

he was a gentle character and was very modest. he was less than a year old and was a favourite of mine. he was also an important breeding fish who i has further spawns planned for. may he be at peace.

the only pic i have of him and in no way does it do him justice..

cheers shell... i realy hope the few remaining fry from his spawn with my melano pk girl (who died at the weekend) survive. i moved them into a growout tank and i only see a few, but they could be hiding in the java moss, which is a bit out of control, lol.

but do hope to get a nice baby survive from that pair, especialy since now il never get to spawn them again

Awww hun  i have been in this situation before and it totally sucks. I wis you all the best with the fry

cheers guys...

funnily enough, he was actualy bred from two pet shop "mongrels" his father was a wild type pk, and his mother was a green marble VT (the father was sent down to a forum member last year, i dont know what ever happened to him, and the mother died after a house move).
from that spawn i got the blackorchid, and his full sister who is a marble who cant make up her mind what colour she wants to be. a couple of maroon girls who recently died too(mystery "female" disease) and a metalic blue combtil girl with a strange gap in her anal fin that she has always had, but she gets picked on for it =/.

goes to show what a pair of mongrels will produce. but he will be missed..

So sorry blue_betta.....seems to be a day for them dying :( :( He was a real stunner though considering where he came from and lots of luck with the fry :good: I hope you get a few nice ones to keep.
