hi everyone, this is my first and probably last post...i dont like to bother people.reading past post gives me enough info i need. so thanks to everyone for good info. super coley mr g farmer etc..
anyway, i just wanted to let you all know how uterly amazing the green machine is. i travelled a good 130 miles to see it, and i have to say its first class. probably the best shop ever. for planted aquariums anyway.

just be prepaired to take your credit card. i spent nearly 250 quid

mark and jim have to be the most freindliest guys ever too.

must go now, if i ever get really stuck, i may post a question or two.

many thanks for reading

mark in newark :good:

Hi Mark, welcome to tff :good: I had seen the pics and was intrested in visiting one day... I might leave an hour early next time i need to pick somebody up from the airport and check them out on my way past!

I'm hoping you do come back and post up some pics of your plants and tank when its ready... If you've just spent £250 I'm sure its going to be a masterpiece!

thanks shrimper for the welcome :good:

you must visit if you get chance.

im not one usualy for uploading things but i guess feed back would be helpfull i guess.

my tank is only a few months old and is my first attempt at a planted one.

initially i was the algae king! including bga! until i discovered ei and co2 (thanks g farmer for great write ups and tom bar for that matter.)

anyway here's the spec

rena 300 L

eheim 2028 and rena filst x 2

arcadia luminaire 4 x 54w t5

red sea pressurised co2 with fire extuingersher.

ei dosing n, p and k , tpn liquid and root tabs. ada iron bottom, seachem liquid iron.

kh 4 gh 5, recently added r/o water (thanks to the green machine :good: )
drop cheker green with 4dkh water 30ppm.

numerous fish.

an average attempt at a planted tank, a masterpiece....NO. aquascaping techniques still to be learnt

thanks for reading

mark.

Don't be so modest, its a great planted tank. I'm sure other people will have suggestions of bits to move or change but it looks good to me.

Everything looks very green and healthy. Looks like you've beaten that algae too :good:

thanks again,

i can actually feel myself getting embarresed as i write this

yeh, most plants are healthy all but my ludwigia glandulosa (in middle) which has leaves turning at edges, dont know why. ive put root tabs near them now.
also myhygrophila corymbosa siamese 53b is really starting to suffer. supposed to be an easy plant, but for me a real chalenge. leaves showing major signs of deficiency. im baffled.
everything else busts the tank, so i prune every 3/4 days to keep things compact. i love stem plants as you can guess.

any help wouldnt go a miss. goodness me, im getting in to this forum stuff. :hyper:

Great looking tank, is there any need to dose TPN? It would be cheaper to use a trace mix of powders and TPN contains K which is pointless for you as you are dosing EI

thanks aaronnorth,

i did start with trace mix powders, but i was getting cloudy water everytime i dosed so i switched to tpn. i dose extra k just to be on the safe side.also when i dose iron it precipitates. so i dose
at night very slowly with pipete.seems to work. everything clear in morning.
ive just bought tpn+.
im a bit scared to switch to it because im not confident theres enough of each n p and k? i think i heard george farmer uses tpn+ and doses no3 and po4 aswell...it was on one of his threads.

any advice on keeping ludwigia glandulosa healthy? its getting everything it needs ( i think) but still strugles to look healthy.

i must say its nice to share advice with you guys.no one else i know keeps fish

I dose TPN+ as a sole fert, i think George has high no3 & po4 and he doesn't dose them, i asked him about TPN+ and he said he only doses that. He is stripping all his tanks down as he is going away for 4month in RAF i think.

cool, i think i'll give it a go. it just seems so stranege to only dose 4/5 ml a day and the tank gets everything it needs?

i'll trust it. if its good enough for you guys....

With your size tank, try with 10ml daily, it may need increasing due to your stem plants but give it a couple of weeks to see what happens.

ok thanks. why more with stem plants? because they uptake more through leaves? also is 50% water change needed each week, as with ei? sorry for picking your brains.
and thanks in advance.

He's not leaving for 6 months yet, so I think he'll probably squeeze another scape in before he strips everything down. :D

Tank is looking really nice Mark. Were you at TGM for the UKAPS shindig?

hi dev,

no, but i wished i was. mark and jim said was a great weekend.from what i've read on this forum it sounded brilliant.

seems like i missed out, but the 130 miles i travelled was well worth it.
