are these eggs? They are on the side of the glass in the tank....i woke up this morning and saw them stuck there. i dont know what else they could be. let me know please?

those are eggs, but not the kinda eggs you're hoping for. these are eggs from a snail. those annoying ones that eat your plants n stuff. they're small n black i think. they usually hitch hike when you buy plants or when gravel gets in the net when you buy a fish. sorry dude!

darn...ok :( well they are not black at all, so are you sure? and if they are snail eggs should i destroy them? and are snails bad for my planted tank?

no, the eggs aren't black, they're white. and they should be in some sort of hard slime... abit like frog spawn but not loads of seperate eggs and the nucleus being white.

this is a minging picture but this is what these snail eggs look like out of the water.

personnally, if they were snail eggs, i'd destroy them and buy, temperarily if not permanent, a snail eating fish.

EDIT: also, none of the fish in your signature spawn eggs like those or in this way

i remember i had the same problem when i first got into fish keeping when i was like 9.
i put some white clouds in a 20ltr acrylic hex and thought it was great that they were breeding after about a week of being introduced to the tank. i hadn't realised they were snail eggs and before i knew it, i was over run by little dark snails!
most of them got out and dried up and i spent about a week picking very single last one out.

does anyone know a fish that will eat these horrid things for this guy?

Any loaches (except khulis, well maybe even khulis) will kill and devour snails like crazy :) (1 vietnamese (yoyo) loach took 1 month to kill an infestation of over 100 ramshorn snails in my tank :)).

Keep in mind most loaches like being kept in groups ;)...

yoyo loaches are pretty cool and they don't grow big... about 6 inches i think.

i won't suggest clown loaches coz i'll get slapped :shifty: a temporary thing maybe? lol

We have 3 Botia Striata (zebra or candy stripe loach) in our tank and they devour the snails while I'm still dropping them in to be eaten. Really good at their job and not big at all. Only a couple of inches and we've had them over a year now.

:good:

skunk loaches are great snail eaters but can be a bit boistrus also humbug cats are good but they are extremely peacefull.
