I had some threads about this in the marine section - it's an experimental tank for the purpose of observing and documenting in detail some gulf coast species and also running some behavioral experiments in the near future. The tank is minimally lit, so the lighting isn't great in the tank shots.
Critters before being in the tank (taken over a month ago):
Shell fragments, hermits, macroalage, etc. This was just the holding container while the tank prep was finishing.

The water is deliberately that shallow. In the wild, they are often in pools of that depth and I have some rocks elsewhere in the tank allowing them to get some air time if they want it.
An Ovalipes ocellatus juvinile male, top view. The little ringlet patterning on the back got kind of washed out by the bad lighting.
