I got 30 odd plants from ebay froma seller called epetz-direct. I was adding these to the 10 Larger plants I already had in my tank.
They came in 6 bunches of 5 plants all looking quite good and still moist.

some were cuttings and some had root systems.

Unfortunately they didnt come with any tags or any indication of what they were so I have no idea if they are suited for my tank or substrate.

Anyway I seperated them all out and planted them between my 2 tanks and added my Dennerle starter tabs to the substrate in the hope that they would all take.
I also added some Dennerle E15, S7 and V30. On top of that i just got a Nutrafin C02 system (noted the other thread about that). My lights are on for 6-7 hours a day and the strips are 36" with 1 30w Sun-glow (brand new) and 1 aqua-glow (due to be replaced soon).

Now I know new plants in a tank can sometimes take a couple of weeks to establish but one of my red leafed plants ( no idea what it is ) is shedding quite badly.

Am I going about the plants the right way or is there anything i am doing wrong or should be doing better?

thanks in advace for all advice

Kris

It sounds like your doing most of the right things... one thing I think is wrong is your lights are only on 6/7 hours. Is there a reason they are only on this long? Most tropical plants come from places with much more light than that. At the equator sunlight is 12 hours everyday. This is what i have my lights set to.

Try taking a closer picture of your unknown plants, somebody might be able to identify them and advise why they aren't growing with the conditions.

on my small tank having them on as much as 12 hours were creating HUGE amounts of algae both brown and green. was advised by lfs to take the lighting to 7 hours as there was too much light.

its on a ramdom timer so it fluctuates as much as an hour.

i will get some photos put up

Do a comprimise like me :D 9 hours. Its on from midday to 9. Then my cold cathode moonlight kicks in at 9 too.

For the record i use:
EI - for nutrients
Flourish excel - for CO2 (overdosed 15%)
2.1 WPG lighting - 9 hours
26 Celcius

I think i received the following

GREEN CABOMBA
VALLIS TORTA
ALTERNANTHERA REINECKII
HYGROPHILLA POLYSPERMA
WHEAT PLANT at least i think of it. its like small blades of grass.

and the last one i couldnt trace online or from his list. Its atall fern like plant but more rusty coloured rather than green.
