Sonn after I got my zebra danio about 1-2 months ago he was very skinny- I presumed this was down to underfeeding as my other danios chased it away from food! However he is eating well and hasn't showed a lack of appetite but still remains extremely skinny. I have only just found that this may be TB but after looking it up the fish isnt showing any other signs of TB! Is there a disease where a fish gets skinny that isn't TB?? The fish is slightly odd as it doesn't swim around like the others but instead often stays at the back of the tank amoung the plants!!

I will try to get a picture of it but may struggle as he is always at the back!

thanks for the quick reply!

My fish isn't bent (souds strange but its true)

And it has no other signs except he's skinny!! One sec i've taken some pics

What does it look like when he goes to the toilet.
Check his anus to see if its enlarged or red and inflamed.

here are some pictures of him
also what are the chances of me catching fish tb considering i havnt had a vaccination and is fish tb fatal to humans??

edit:eek:h and ive never seen him poo and there doesnt seem to be any colouring around his anus area although I dont know exactly where to find a fishes anus

Bless him he is on the thin side.
I wouldn't say fish tb with a fish just being skinny, the only way to know for sure is to bag the dead fish up and have test done at the vets.

You have to be exposed to tb a very long time, wear gloves if you have cuts and wounds on your hands.
Rare for humans to catch fish tb, stand more chance if you have a weak immune system.
Get you some info.

It might be better to end the fish misery as he not joining in with the others.

should I just leave him be for now then?? Or is that risking all the rest of my fish??
What type of gloves should I use as I dont want to use some that are harmful to fish!!

If you reccommend killing him - what do you think i the most humane way??

Sorry couldn't post last night the board was playing up.
I can't fetch myself to chop of the head so I find this method best.
A jug of cold water and ice cubes till the water is freezing, add the fish it should take about 30 seconds, but leave the fish a while just to make sure it has passed on.
