Just found 1 baby guppy in my tank!

Why 1 though!? I'm guessing it's because i've found it too late so the rest got eaten?

Also, i really dont know which females given birth? they all still look quite pregnant!

One more q.... the baby is now in the breeder trap, if i put liquifry in the tank, which has 8 adults in too.. will the baby still get a share?

thanks!

Well maybe you found the first of the fry, they can give birth over a few hours

the likely hood is the one giving birth will be the one either laying quietly either by the heater or on the bottom of the tank or possibley getting chased around the tank

i would place just a little into the trap just to make sure

:good:

just put the liquifry in the trap, very little though if there is only 1 baby, keep a eye on your guppies, the one who was having them may have more, they are that small you will not see most of them (if she had more) because they will be hidden away, try looking in your plants, corners of the tank, and all edges of the top of tank.

if i was you, i would put the biggest guppy in the trap (the fattest one) and if she does have more, you will save them.

You will soon know which one had them cos it will go very thin so make sure you feed her up, she will be hungry.

keep a diary of the dates your fish drop fry, that way you will roughly know when she will have them again, guppies drop every 4-6 weeks (more at the 4 week end rather than the 6)

good luck :)

great thanks guys!

Hope she has more!

I've been told sometimes the babies lose if left in the trap too long? Is this true!?

sorry half asleep!

No m8, as long as you keep it fed, and everynow and again, just tip some water out of the trap and let it fill up again through the vents to make sure water is clean in the trap, i know there is vents in it but doing this takes some of the crap off the bottom of the trap.

I have got about 45 endler fry in a trap and there fine, they been in there 6 weeks.

Look here to see my trap with fry.

Maybe empty some water out and try to leave a couple of inch gap between the light and trap, i dont think it will bother them to much but if it concerns you then it might be best. :)

heres some mollies as well
