Hi,

I have just started to breed bristlenose plecs and would like to ask a few questions and hope someone can help me.

***added*** will plecs breed all year round if the cold water changes are done a lot?

1. I have 12 brisltenose's in my 4ft tank, 4 big ones (3 male - 1 female) (about 3-4")......... and the rest are between 2 and 3". Is this ok or to many?

2. At what size will they start to breed?

3. i been doing in the last 3 weeks a 20% cold water change, is this ok?

4. Fed them up with bloodworm and cucumber and algae wafers, is that ok?

5. I all got in the tank with them is endlers to breed. is this ok?

6. i have added a picture of my tank below, is this a ok breeding ground, i have 3x 1.5 inch tubes in it, 2x biggish barnicals, 2x pots with cutaway exits.

Thank you,

Wayne

I don't think bristlenose are too fussy. Your tank looks lovely, mine have very recently spawned and are about 3.5". I'd swap cucumber for courgette as it is more nutritious. Mine love the occasional prawn. Keep a close eye on the males in case they fight but you should be ok!

Had a breakthrough i think, one of my male bristlenose the last full day has claimed a cave (one of the orange half plantpot cave) Maybe now i might get some spawning happening in my tank :)
