Same Fish?

the only thing i am not sure about Dave, is some dude said its a "flowerhorn" and he seemed certain its not the same fish in the pics.

I cant speak for Flowerhorns, if he 100% believes its a flowerhorn in the first pic and he knows what he's talking about he may be onto something, but ultimately i say two things here

1. i believe the original poster, that would be my bet

2. there ARE (thats fact) cichlids that have this colour change and also shape change.

i am not knocking peeps, i might have said the same at some stage, before i kept American Cichlids

but even if the dude thinks its a Flowerhorn i think it could easily be a hybrid, Flowerhorn mixed with something, a American Cichlid like a RD or Midas, then that could explain the colour change

I'll have to leave it to the experts... i am not one, merely i have the experience of certain cichlids changing colour..... can you tell the dull fish is a flowerhorm for sure form these pics? i am really not sure, not at that young age anyway But i could well be wrong.

i'm postive that is a flowerhorn in the first picture, reason being i've kept many myself from frys to adults. i agree with you guys that cichlids do change color and shape as they grow but i think i do stick to is that in most cichlids (which is usually the case), the spots do not change (entirely) even if the fish goes through a color morph (stripes on the other hand is a different story).

you can see in the last picture (the clearest one) that the colors have darkened and the spots look fabulous. something which wouldnt just fade away. another thing is the tail fins. i'm not too sure about this but i do believe that pigmentation on the fins out of nowhere isnt something i've seen before.

i still stick to my stand that is isnt the same fish but at the same time i do wish someone to prove me wrong with a back-up explaination. i believe if i'm wrong, then it is better to be beaten and have something to learn from.

edit: typo error

you are NOT wrong. hahaha! that fish is my pride and joy!!!!! i love her! thanks for standing by me and clearing things up...it is sooo frustrating to be called a liar.

she still does have those spots they are just extremely washed out. from what people tell me it is an srs. they say the body shape and transformation were gonna happen before it even did.

check them out on google!! great looking fish! i hope mine turns out like those!!!!
