Dudes 10 Gall Planted Journal

welcome everyone this is my first journal

some tank info:

Tank size: 10 gall American
substrate: laterite / iron slag
lighting: 2 15 watt tubes one white one purple
decor: wood rocks
inhabitants: a group of cardinals and 2 ottos 1 cherry shrimp
plants: amazon sword, crypts Hygrophila polysperma and sunset and tiger lotcas lily

I always like more plants, but this is a good start. Love the crypts! My favorites, personally. Are you injecting CO2?

Ooh thats going to look nice when it fills out The hygrophila polysperma is probably going to cover the amazon word once it shoots up.Can easily be handled with trimming I suppose though.
What do you plan on for the foreground?

Looks pretty good so far. Maybe a little clover or hair grass in front would liven it up some though. I would even add maybe another small piece of wood. (I love wood.)
It looks like it will be very nice when things have had a little time to grow a bit.
I love the H. polysperma. I am going to have to see about getting some. It is really pretty.

Unfortunately, check your noxious weed listing for your state, Amanda. Florida doesn't allow the trade of H. polysperma, as it is a noxious weed. It was in the process of being banned in IL, when I was living there, but I managed to get a nice specimen, before that happened. It is a wonderful plant, but irresponsible dumping has caused it to clog natural waterways. It is a hardy plant and often survives the binning process. I had to dry my cuttings, wrap them in plastic wrap, and then place in a separate plastic bag to ensure that it was indeed dead, and that it was properly disposed of. I didn't have to do it, but I can empathize with people trying to protect natural habitats, coming from FL, where there is a lot of illegal flora and fauna dumping. Shame, though, I liked it a lot, especially the varigated "sunset" cultivar.

as for my foreground i was thinking hair grass will be too tall so it depends which i find first but i was thinking of some Echinodorus tenellus


im currently not running any co2 .... might need it in the future

im having some crypt rott so thats why they are trimmed so brutely

How about some riccia or java moss on a piece of slate at the front?

ive been looking everywhere for some riccia but all i can get my hands on is java moss and im not a big fan of javva moss
