maestro- I have waited so long as I first saw one of these in the lfs when i had my first tank on order - a juwel vision 260. I wanted one of these but then realised that it was a marine fish and was told that they were to hard to kep and extreemly expensive so started with tropical community fish. I then progressed in to larger fish with my first being a arowana and then some large catfish etc. only last year did I have a go at marines after working at the lfs and talking with loads of people who have them and also the marine biologist that owns it. so I ordered a tank etc and got loads of secondhand equipment etc and got it set-up. now I had it set-up, I was told that they will wipe your tank out with white spot and they die with in weeks etc. this put me off as the only ones available were little 2" ones with washed out colour and very thin. I went to TMC the other day (marine fish and invert wholesalers for the uk) and saw a beautiful 6" one which was feeding well. so I took a chance and up to now its doing fine, fingers crossed. so that is why I'v waited so long as that has been a fish that I have always liked (one in my avatar as well ) and didn't really want to get a small one and let it die as I think that it could have put me off for ever if I did that. so large ones can be a little difficult to come by and most shops won't stock them for obviouse reasons. mine cost about £50 I think.
I'll try and get a full tank shot asap but with the tank being 5', its hard to get it all in view with out standing back where you lose the quality. I should be getting a new camera in a few months either a cannon G5 or a fuji fine pix S7000 so if anyone has any oppinions on any of those I'd like to hear them. I will have ago with the old one for the time being though.
cheers for the reply, its so great when u get a really special fish, im at the tropical stage now but always check out the marines at the store, i saw the cutest/funniest fish ever yesterday, it was called a cow fish, it was so cool i stood there and watched it for ages kinda laughing to myself...lol
