Just a few pics of my goldfish ;
But more importantly this thread is about a little success story of mine. See this happy little goldfish playing in the bubble stream here ;
This is the same goldfish last year when i first bought it;
It was SOO skinny when i first bought it. Basically what happened is, i was choosing goldfish to buy at a lfs a long time ago, when i saw this goldfish and asked the guy top net it for me 'cos i liked its patterns. However i didn't notice how seriously skinny the goldfish was until the guy had netted it and put it in the bag with the other goldfish.
For a moment, i paused as i decided whether i should ask the guy to put the goldfish back or not. I knew leaving the goldfish at the petshop would be like giving it a death sentence since this goldfish was obviously sick and undernourished and i knew the petshop wouldn't medicate the fish or give it any TLC etc. So as my soft heart got the better of me, i decided to keep the goldfish and see if i could nurse it back to good health myself.
For months i medicated it for both internal bacteria and internal parasites, trying different meds, and feeding it a special high energy varied diet of 3portions a day. The goldfish took a long time before i saw any improvement though, it had suffered some serious neglect, but the goldfish start to get better eventually after many months of special care.
Now days its a very happy little goldfish and is in top health, it is not the best shaped shunbunkin comet there is, the base of the tail at the top still has a bit of a bump (which the goldfish has always had, looks like it is from poor gene's), but i love the little goldfish- it has an interesting loveable character, it also has one brown/red eye and one dark blue/grey eye which i think adds to its unique character even more .
