Well this is a pretty new setup, only been up for a few months. I am new at this so finding direction and what works has been a learning expirience, lol. My goal is to have a nicely planted tank (tho I might have to put down a better plant feeding substrate) and build the rocks up the back wall with some cubbies and caves. I just put in the quartz today as I finally found a place that sells it cheep! 2 bucks a bucket, lol.

Give me some ideas if you would, plant sugestions, ways to stack the rocks? this is a work in progress, lol.

I can't tell if you have got african cichlids in there or not but if you want a planted tank it will be pretty tricky with african cichlids a s they will see it a s a nice salad. But if you go with rams, dwarf cichlids, angles, discus it should be fine.
Nice tan kthough.

Here's what I have in there now, so far they are leaving the corkscrew alone but we will see, lol

they may well leave the corkscrew alone, from what i've read.
you may run into some size issues though, as those cichlids will get fairly big.

size issues mite happen, they reccomend 55gal min, but if you keep swapping the fish as they get big you shouldnt be too bad, as for plants i put them in mine and they never touched them, there f1 so have never been wild wont have seen plants as a source of food

It's a nice looking tank, but I'm afraid you're going to run into some size/aggression issues. The species you have (from left to right).

1. Not sure, not an african cichlid though.
2. pseudotropheus socolofi, 6", mildly aggressive, herbivore, 4-foot tank or larger
3. melanochromis auratus, 5", extremely aggressive, herbivore, 75+ gallon species only tank is best
4. pseudotropheus crabro, 8", aggressive, herbivore, 75 gallons or more
5. labidochromis caeruleus, 5", mildly aggressive, omnivore, 4-foot tank or larger

Even if they are getting along now, I hate to say, it's going to get nasty once they reach sexual maturity. :/

Number 1 is actually a C. borleyi the flash washed his colors out. or her colors rather as she is a female.

Yea, I'm rehomeing all of them and never taking LFS advice again, lol.

lol, you have the same tank and stand that i have... Let me guess, you bought it at Petsmart? I bought my tank for $99 and the tank for $120. Its a bow-front 28 gallon.

Oh, and i like the decorations in your tank, looks pritty cool.

yes it is a copadochromis borleyi i would get rid of the auratus if i were you as you will have problems as they are extremely aggressive!!!!
