Hello all,

Firstly thanks to all you guys for the fantastic advice in my posts and the pinned topics, it helps a lot.

Picked up the new guy yesterday, one of the new batch Modaz had in. He's only young and was a bit stressed and pale last night but has settled in pretty quickly and is now much darker body colour with some nice flashes of green in the scales when he hits the light nicely. I'm really looking forward to see what he looks like in a few months time when he's had a bit more chance to grow.

Anyway, no one cares about me wittering on, here's the pics:

He has 4 small cory to try and keep the tank a bit tidier.

I might put up some tank shots later after I've tried to find the last of the plants I want in there.

Cheers

He is a sweety. I have one like that who is very difficult to get photos of... :hyper:

hi mate, really glad you liked him, didnt really want to sell him as he is a sweet little guy but a good home is all thats needed and he gunna be happy with you, he is a tiny juvi but looks even smaller up against the gravel  he will be one stunning fish when he grows up just started another spawn with simular so might well have a matching female for when your ready to spawn him.

He is not particularly fond of cameras. lol.

Tried for ages this morning to get a decent shot but he was getting grumpy so I gave up. Apologies for the slight blurryness but this is the best one that shows him off in full grumpy glory. I did a water change after adding more plants yesterday and I might have added a smidge too much de-chlor which has made the water a bit blue which doesn't help to show off the orange colour.

I'm running pressurised co2 which helps with plants and also keeps the ph a bit lower - our water is pretty much liquid chalk and my main community tank runs around 7.8 which I thought a bit high for bettas.

foreground is two species of dwarf sword plant, midground left to right is crypts, anubias tied to the bogwood and two tiger lotus on the far right which are still pretty small. The back is twisted vallis. I removed the red looking plant as I found out it is non-aquatic just after I bought it.

Also visable is my hasty filter mod. sort of a reverse sponge filter with the filter outlet running into a length of syphon tube which has had holes drilled in it. This is then pushed into a bit of filter sponge. Its cut down the speed of the flow hugely and 'fish' (he's still unnamed) can quite happily sit on top the sponge without getting blown off.

You can't have him! As much as he doesn't like cameras, watching him get really angry was quite impressive.

cheers

Mark-He is gorgeous, and your tank setup is quite impressive, I really like the planted setup. I see your runnning c02, what kind of lighting are you using, out of curiosity? Your tank looks great :good:
