Some of you read my topic about the nitrite that got stuck at 5. I thought I should add these pictures to show you how the nitrite affected the gills of my tiger barb. His better now, and the nitrite is down I'm still doing water changes. I bought a cascade 300 filter it's been used for a year, could it be that it needs new filter bags?

First photo is before nitrite climb, I've got a good camera but don't know how to use it yet

2nd and 3rd photo look at the red color on skin

Those pictures are the size of quarters, I cannot see any detail at all.

I think I can see the fish you are talking about...maybe...no scratch that. It was a speck of dirt on my screen.

just goes to proove that regular tests are essential in fish keepinG

WATER CHANGES IS ALSO IMPORTANT IT SEEMS.
AND YES THOSE TESTS; WHICH MAKES ME THINK OF THE RUGBY TESTS IN FRANCE, AT THE MOMENT. TOMORROW SOUTH AFRICA IS PLAYING :shout: AGAINST THE US OF A! TO ALL YOU US'S ON THAT SIDE: GOOD LUCK! TO MY FISHES GOOD LUCK AS WELL CAUSE WE ARE STILL NOT THROUGH THIS TESTING SERIES, THEY ARE GIVING ME A HELL OF A TIME BOTH IN PLEASURE AND IN WORK.

A RECENT PICTRE OF MY COMMUNITY TANK. (2 GOURAMI'S AT BOTTOM) I'M STILL FIGURING OUT WHETHER OR NOT THIS MIXTURE WAS A WISE DECISION. I'LL LET U IN ONCE I KNOW. BUT I KNOW THEM GUPPY MALES THEY AREN'T VERY INTO COMMUNITY LIVING, SEVERAL OF MINE HAVE PASSED AWAY,(MAYBE THEY DECIDED THEY ARE BETTER OFF ON THEIR OWN) THE BLOODFINS WHICH WERE THE FIRST INHABITANTS THEY'RE STILL STICKING IT OUT EVEN DURING THIS VICIOUS CYCLE. :good: SO 2 ALL THE MEN OUT THERE NEXT TIME YOU SEE A WOMEN HAVE PITY ON THEM WE ARE ON A NEVER ENDING SPIKING CYCLE  AND UNFORTUNATELY SOMETIMES MANAGING THE SPIKES GETS OUT OF HAND.

how the heck did you allow nitrite to get so high?

I WAS HOPING SOMEONE COULD TELL ME, I SUSPECT IT WAS THE FACT THAT I LOST 2 TANKS IN 2 DAYS PLUS ADDING TOO MANY FISHES TOO QUICKLY. i BOUGHT AN ECHO AQUALISER AND THOUGHT THAT WOULD SORT OUT THE TROUBLE, THEN THE CYCLE STARTED AMMONIA LEVELS INCREASED, NEXT NITRITE THE THINGS I BOUGHT AT THE STORES?= NOT WORKING . MANUALLY CHANGING THE WATER ALL BY "MY LONESOME SELF" = ONLY ANSWER.

THE NITRITE IS STILL 0,2 AND WITHOUT CHANGING WATER IT CLIMBS. HERE IS THE FISH SWIMMING WITH HIS FRIENDS THE ANGEL FISHES , CARDINALS, ECT. AFTER BEING RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL TANK.

those little angels in there wont be nice little angels after some time

ANYTHING THAT Survives in my tank is due to a miracle, but yes those angels may say their prayers now because later on they are going to need it :hyper: the angels and the barbie's =(tiger barbs) are so pretty, but behind that facade I realise that i'm keeping cannibals who will eat their babies.
CHEERS :good:
