Take the bio-balls and ceramic media out as they will soon become nitrate traps. Instead fill the compartment will live rock rubble as the beneficial bacteria living in there will do a much better job of maintaining the water quality. :good:

If possible try adding a light in the back comparment where the media is so once you have live rock rubble, you can add some macrealgae and turn the compartment into a refugium! Once established this should help tackle nusiance algae problems as what you seem to be desbribing is green hair algae and it is a pest that can quickly take over the whole aquarium and once established it can become a pain to get rid off!

As far as when to start adding corals, you will have to constantly keep testin water parameters (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates)and when all are 0 then it is time! This can take anything from 1 or 2 weeks up to over 2months depending on the quality of the live rock. :look:

Oh and finally I really would suggest going AGAINST getting boxfish they are not recommended for beginners but for more advanced aquarists! Also a 12G nano is nowhere near big enough for them! Boxfish's skin is poisonous and, when threatened, they tend to release a toxin lethal to other tank members, including other boxfish. Also they are poisonous when they die so can easily cause even the most established system to crash!!! :/

thanks 4 the advice...and defo no boxfish i just found out they grow to over 1 foot long...bad BAD idea
