Boy, I never thought that Cardinal Tetras had teeth like that
Imagine if they grew to a foot long. They'd be creepy!!
Awesome pictures. What camera do you use? I've tried my best at getting some close-ups on my goby, but I can't get any good ones. Which is kind of sad. The goby is 8 inches long never moves, whereas your cardinals are about an inch long and they always move.
Maybe I just suck at photography. . .

Thanks so much for the kind feedback, very much appreciated.
The teeth surprised me too, miniature monsters, I expect all the little tetras have similar teeth they are mostly carnivorous I think.
The camera I use is a dslr canon D400, with a macro lens, I have seen much better pics than the ones I get with similar cameras. I have the camera a few months so I have been practising and the pics are getting better. Generally the more light on the tank the better the chances of getting a sharp pic of a moving fish aiming for the eye of the fish seems to work best as when it is out of focus the pic doesn’t look so good. Cardinals do stop moving and just hang out sometimes but it can still be hard to get decent pics of them. With digital cameras it doesn’t cost anything to take loads of pics and delete the duds.
Cheers Three-fingers, I have always loved the shape and look of cardinals, they are just perfect looking and they can live with a wide variety of other fish. I like the 'yawning' too, here is a closer crop of the same pic, so much mouth in such a small head.
these pictures are great! the one showing teeth should be used to show why tetras are called tetras. just imagine if they were as bad at fin nipping as tiger barbs lol
If I didn't know they were so tiny blow it up and you have the next monster.
I too see the parhana resemblence.
Great pics your to modest I would be scratching your head if you would only realise how good they are !!
(hypothetically of course)
