Look forward to a update tommorow Im buying brand new "cured" (or apparently) live rock :D I have $100 to spend & the aquarium has been closing down for months so it should be cheap...(I got a 15 inch piece of drift wood there for $12 not bad :D) Im not a fan of who works there but a small amount of pain to save money and trouble isn't bad

Ok things didn't go as planned as I rang the wrong aquarium & thought I rang one when I rang another...I got driven the 30 minute drive to find the aquarium I thought it was wasn't...& that it wasn't even open!...Sooooo we went to another aquarium/pet shop who I rang & they had already said their LR was from the day prior (it was delivered) but on some investigation I saw a MAMMOTH piece of live rock (it's Huge at least 8 inches long & 5 high) and had some nice growth on it & I asked if it was for sale and yep... $20 a kilogram not sure how much it weighs as I have to pick it up tommorow with a eski filled with SW as they just give you some newspaper...

The issue is the fish in with the LR piece may be unwell (not sure) would there be a issue there?? I won't be putting fish in the tank for at least two weeks when I know that it's cured

never heard of it, i know there is an american protein skimmer brand called orca but they do custom designs as well as there own designs, but their own designs are REALLY big ones.

Heres some photos of my new LR...the other side of it is all grey while the side photographed is aliveThe 2nd picture is the whole 2 and a half kilo piece and the 3rd is the nicest looking part of it The water is very cloudy as I had to move all the water into a eski to actually transport it and I added some crushed coral

Not bad for $45...it's very light for it's size...does it look cured?? the back of it is very gray but the front part that your seeing in the photo is what the rock was positioned like at the LFS...there are 5 LR's in the tank with four behind that bit but the four are pretty much base rock

it was out of water for 4-5 minutes TOPS in a plastic bag which had some water /moisture in it then was put into a eski with SW

if it really was litterally 100% cured before it was out of the water into the bag etc it should be fully cured rock

well does it look cured? one side looks like what you see the other was up against the glass at the back & had zero growth

ok...I am so uncertain with everything I do with Marine..I do research & know what Im doing then when I do I don't feel confident argh

Well I haven't seen ANY hitch hikers of any sort until now...Upon inspecting there is a yellow spongey thing plus a yellow tube worm PLUS something which scared me I was poking and prodding some algae off a piece of LR and suddenly 4 large hairy legs popped out of a cave....there is a HUGE (compared to ones i've seen in marine tanks which isn't many) crab it's a maroon colour & is lumpy with hairy legs But no shell but I cannot get a photo as it's hiding in a cave...any ideas what it could be...Im afraid it will end up dying because my water isn't RO Unit or destilled

Crab Description:

It is a red/maroon colour, it has very chunky legs that are covered with hairs and the tip of it's legs are orange. It has lumps on the top of it's carapace & has a very pronounced face with big eyes and a large mouth...it's hiding inside a cave in the LR any suggestions?

After researching the best likeness I can get is the Eroded Mud Crab....but not sure....I need more information on them
