Looks like a full grown red clawed crab to me lol cutie regardless :wub:
 
yea i think thats a red claw crab, i have a couple of them in my 10 gal.

be sure to give them some access to air.

i drained out a little bit of water and made a platform from some drift wood. they are good climbers so dont worry if they can get up there or not, they can. make sure he has no way to get out of the tank.
 
yep a Chinese or siamese red crab Sesarma Bidens. they are a brackish LAND crab! any tank holding them should be 25-30% water 70-75% land. though with enought space in the hood some have made "dry areas" with small a brackish pool, that seems to work. they do spend more time on land than in the water.

unless the information above is the same as that given by your LFS, i should ignore any further advice from them on this subject.
