Hi all,
I'm buying a new tank for my freshwater tropicals, but definitely want to switch to marine one day in the future. I don't want to have to change tanks though, as this is to be my tank for the long run. The one I'm planning to buy is the Aqua One R2-150. Specs in metric: 156x46x69cm 370 liters

Does anyone know if I can use this tank for marine by adding a skimmer and whatever extra as the tank is, or pull the whole hood off and do it that way?

as long as it holds water and the bottom glass is strong enough to hold a few pounds of rock, why not

I just thought that maybe the hood part is fixed to the tank some how, and can't be removed????? Probably a pretty silly idea, but I just want to make sure, as I'd hate to get it and find out I can't change it to marine. I have been to a LFS who sells these tanks. They have told me these tanks aren't suitable for marine, but they may be saying they are not suitable as is, but with modifications, hopefully it will be o.k.

the hood cant be removed? Gonna have problems putting live rock in there lol.
