I have got a soroity 30l biorb with 3 females I and one is being bullied. And her fins have been nipped. Would I be better off taking her out and puting her in my community tank until the biorb has matured a bit and I can get 2 more females to put her back in with?
Also wondered what you make of the hole in her tail?
Here is her pic.

i dont think they are females they look identical to pk males

the red one is definetly a male im 100% positive about that one. as for the other one im not 100%, but i think it too is a male. please separate them immediately. by the way very nice looking fish you have there.

Here is pics of them seperatly. How am I meant to seperate them? If they are males I'm straight on the phone to the fish shop tomorrow!

I can see what looks like an oviposter (the white spot in between the ventral fins) on your black one, which as I understand it is a surefire sign that you've got a female.
Can't see one on big red though... -_-

The one on the right hand side has got the white bits but the pink one hasn't plus he has a really good evil face.
I'm going to have to keep him in a breeder overnight in the main tank, there's nothing else I can do. I've got tetra's in one tank and guppies in another.

not always sure fire.

both look like pk males to me, the third im not so sure, but could well be a male.

LOVE the black one. seperate them by floating them in plastic pint tumblers perhaps.

I have taken the pink one out and put him in a breeder in my community tank. The other 2 seem to have taken the flack from him and seem to be kinda relieved that he's out now and they can finally rest. Do I take them all back to the shop or just the pink one?
But either way the shop is gonna get hell tomorrow!
Oh and does it make a difference how their faces are when they flare coz the other 2's is soft compared to his evil face?

dont go in all guns blazzing, its an easy mistake to make. both my pk males were bought as females, one i was well aware was a male hence i picked it out. the other i was sure was a female, but she didnt get on with the other girls so lived on her own for a bit, then when i tried reintroducing her to the sorority, "she" went flaring mad with a jevenile fish id bred earlier in the year that was in there, it was also a male. most pet stores dont realise there are more than just veiltails about. i see alot of pk males in tanks of females.
they have not sold you males deliberately.

So are we saying that they are all male?
How can I tell if it's a female?
The other 2 are swimming around happily together.

pk males have a long tip the anal fin, are slimmer than females (most noticable PRE-feed) and the flap of skin behind the gils is large to make a big flare face. ive found that generaly, males colours are more intense too.

male pk and female for comparison
