This is the first time I have tried to attach a picture here before so I hope it works! I have a platy (upper right) That looks different than the other ones from the same batch of babies (notice the one below her to the left a little? He was from the same batch of babies). Any ideas why this one looks so different? She is a female, but she has looked this way since birth (different than all the rest) Let me know what you think! THanks! Lisa

is it me or is she shorter bodied? think it may just be a birth defect, nothing to worry about IMO she looks healthy

it looks like shes short bodies and extremely fat! as lil fishie said its probably a birth defect

I guess it could be a birth defect. I had a couple (still have them) with bent bodies. Hers isn't but could be just a birth defect! Thanks!

I have a few that are so stout looking that I would call them Balloon Platies. It's most likely a deformity. It seems to be less of a problem for the fish than bent spines.

She seems to get around just like all the other fishies. I do have a couple with bent spines as well but they too get around just fine and other than the fact that they are kinda s shaped from the top view, they are quite happy. Now, I also have a molly that wasn't s shaped when I got him but one day I had found him shaking like a leaf at the bottom of the tank, I did a water change that night and thought I would wake up to a dead fish in the morning but he was just fine in the morning. Then he started to take on the s shape! Strange!!

May be is a small balloon platy, right i think so!...
