If one of my guppies died and then another about a week later and then another the next day, could there be something wrong with the water?

I still have one more guppy :good:

Or it might have been that I had 3 males to one female but the pregnant female died yesterday. So I'm a little bummed and wondering what happened since I am a beginner with fish
 
Check the awter! Do you have one of those kits? If not, buy one! Please post the results. Also, can you get me a few pics of the fish and tell me how he's acting? There might have been a desease in the tank. You got the dead fish out immediatly right? Lets hope this guy lives!
 
if you aint got a kit then do a 20% water change immediately then if theres something wrong with the water it should dilute it down.
what size tank is it and how many fish are in there, how often do you do water changes and how often do you feed them? also check your filter to make sure its not blocked or something
 
my mom bought 4 more guppies!
it kind of made me mad because now i have 3 males and 2 females packed in a 5 gallon tank with 3 neons, a frog, an algae eater, a zebra fish, a snail, and a ghost shrimp!!! And I don't have the water kit.
 
I'm afraid that you shoul either upgrade your tank or take some of the fish back. Neons prefer a tank of at least 10 Gallons and the Guppies aren't ideal for that size tank either. This may be what caused your fish to die, too many fish will cause more waste and pollute the tank.
What algae eater have you got? Also, what is the Zebra fish, is it a Zebra Danio?
 
gotta agree with stang1 overstocked for that size tank :(
 
I don't know what kind of fish the zebra one is but I put it in a different tank and the algae eater is one of those small one gallon tank ones. All it said on the label was algae eater. I probably will just get a bigger tank and put the guppies in it with the ghost shrimp or the snail.
 
Can you get any photos of them? It might help to identify what they are. :good:

We need to know what the algae eater is, you realize that is not an actual fish "algae eater" If it is a Chinese algae eater then thats not good at all....if its a pleco not good at all. Please get some pics up so we can help you.

Like i said, Neons need at least 10 Gallons and prefer to be kept in groups of 5+.
I'm sure Guppies are pretty much the same.
Without knowing what type of algae eater you've got, it's difficult to say whether it will be fine or not. Algae eaters can be Siamese/Chinese algae eaters, Ottocinclus, Plecos etc. The size of these vary quite a bit so it may be that your tank is too small to accomodate it.

I'm really not sure what type he is, I'm guessing at the Chinese Algae Eater. Hopefully, someone else can give you a proper ID of him.
