Hi everyone
Well i bought some fish yesterday and this was one of them. Could anyone mind identifying what cichlid this is. Yea i know "how do u buy fish without knowing...." its a long story.

Just guessing, but looks to be a juvie firemouth cichlid. What size tanks do you have and what are his tankmates? If I remember correctly, they're on the lower end of aggresiveness... personally my favorite cichlid.
 
O ok thanks alot. my tanks 90*32*40. I have some rams, and some yellow labs. i got two of the firemouths but i dunno if their gonna make it
 
Labs defiantely shouldn't be kept with new world cichlids. Not only do they require a higher ph, they have different food requirements and they are far more aggressive than the other fish you have in the tank. While labs are considered peaceful by mbuna standards, they could easily kill the other fish in your tank. I would suggest deciding wether you want an african or new world set up and then remove the species that don't fit.

O the labs arent in the same tank as the new worlds. I have two tanks, still stocking the mbuna tank

I'm glad you have them in separate tanks, your above statement was a tad misleading. :D
 
Sorry bout that, i see now. And does anyone think there is someting wrong with this barb, its abdomen isnt looking very good(top left)

I have a Tiger Barb like that. It's been that way for a very long time and seems perfectly fine.

they dont look big enough to be gravid yet, it could be constipated, or possible just greedy :)

it swims a little slower than the others and a bit tilted downwords like it swims downwords but it doesnt lol, if that makes sense. only a little. ive had them fot about 8months now i think dunno how old they have to be before they can get preggis. The is another one with the same 'problem' as this one just not as bad. if it is 'blocked is thre anything i can do?

sounds like constipation, try feeding defrosted frozen peas, deshelled and squwished :)
