Hi Guys

Got home tonight, and saw one of my fish has a strange red growth on his tail. He seems to be swimming around as normal, and all the other fish in the tank look fine.

All stats check out as normal (Amm 0, Nitri 0, Nitra 10 ish), was wondering if he's mayb cut himself on something, or if it was the beginning of something worse  .

Hopefully you can see what it is in the picture (quickly grabbed my camera to take a shot).

Cheers

ImagesLooks like it could be an external bacterial infection, just looking at the picture. Check this site and the pictures on it, some of the images look similar to yours.

Hope your fish gets well soon :fish:
Good Luck :good:

Yeah, i would treat with myxazyn and melafix. Better to isolate the fish while treating if possible then you don't have to treat the rest of the tank unnecessarily.

Internal bacteria med by interpet.
Just want to check that it dosn't resemble a cauliflower.

Update:

Got home today (after a quick call in to the LFS on the way home to get some meds) saw him hiding in the corner not doing much in particular.

Have moved him to a smaller Q tank (was a right pain catching him - seemed alot more active once a net was introduced). Added some Interpet no. 9 (Internal Bacteria) - got a better look at him now theirs less to hide behind - and spotted some more white splotches on him now. After a few mins swimming round the smaller tank he started to do some vertical swimming, so definately looks like an infection :(.

Added some meds, and will hope for the best.
