Hi all, was out looking for a birthday fish for my son and saw a yellow stripy pleco, extremely vivid colour!

Its a L204 Flash Pleco, have not got any pictures but will get some as soon as he (she?) comes out to play. As these are wood eater I have a large bit of bog wood in the middle of the tank and have thrown some cucumber in (which he came out and took a few bites)

Does anyone have anything more info on behaviours etc, I've read the article in Planet Catfish and the guy at the fish shop was a member of the catfish study group. I feel really lucky, this shop is run by enthusiasts, they have over 40 differing L numbers and their complete tropical / marine setup is the cleanest I've ever seen! Its Hellesdon Aquatics in Norwich, best shop in Norfolk in my opinion (Swallow comes a close second!)

Cheers

Of all of the 16 or so different L numbers i have kept i found L204 to be the most aggressive and territorial, i had to rehome mine as it would not accept any other pleco tankmates.

beautiful fish though.

No way, really?

At what point did he/she become aggressive? I think the one I have bought is young - just under 2inches... The L204 is in a 180ltr with 2 3inch BN and 1 clown plec, loads of hiding places - heavily planted with structured backing

Apart from bog wood, what diet do you have yours on?

Many thanks

Well, he/she was out last night seemingly exploring and heading towards some of the GDA algae thats still recovering, seemed pretty happy which is good!

Am I right in saying that the L204 is not a captive bread fish and must be from the wild? Would be good if that is the case!

Is the L204 hardy?

apart from wood, the usual pleco veg fare, courgette, squash, potatoe, etc etc

i got mine at pretty much adult size (5 inch or so) and it was a mean b*stard from the start tbh, sold it to another plecofanatic with a much much bigger tank and he is having the same problems. Of course each individual fish is different but L204 on the whole seems to be an aggressive territorial sp. Just pop some valium in during water changes lol

Ahhh...

Will keep my eye on it! He has already taken one of the BN usual spots... he he

Managed to grab a pic (albeit a bad one) of the little fella
