So, got my ebayed JBL Furanol through the post today.
I had three Dwarf Gourami, 1 Male, 2 Female introduced just under two months ago. Water stats are 0/0/30 PH7.5. The male had a very minor mouth ulcer for a couple of weeks which gradually progressed to a fairly unpleasant stage. Further symptoms included holes appearing in the tail fin and later the dorsal. This progressed to a stage where fins appeared genarally ragged. Two days before he died I also noticed scales sticking up. He was treated with Myxazin but unfortunately died before I could assess whether this had significant effect.
The larger of my two females is now showing similar symptoms in her fins. Note notch in anal fin.
Today I treated in my 5 gall hex with Furanol, syphoned some main tank water, added aeration, heater and dissolved the meds. Then transfered both fish into the tank for half an hour as per intensive treatment instructions. Both then went back to my main tank and they seem fine. Have eaten and are their normal happy selves. Will monitor progress.
So questions. There is no guidance for repeat dosing so I am unsure how often I should repeat this process. This med kills filter bacteria so I don't want to medicate my hosp or main tanks and keep the fish in long term. Any additional comments?
Cheers
