Ok, so this morning I turned the lights on to find the two girls and the two cory cats dancing in the tank, yes.. dancing!
The corys got bored quickly but the girls sure didn't. Bubbles, the darker of the two has really got her colour back and is looking lovely  Bella, the lighter one isn't quite back to the colour she was but she is getting there :good: So here are some pics! Not great quality coz theyre taken with my phone but meh.

Some dancing pics, some with the corys and one with my cat. He was peering in the tank wondering what on earth was so facinating and what had his mummy bought home this time

LOL.. how very typical, Bubbles is a boy!

I had worried about this all night, since seeing Bubbles and Bella 'dancing' y.day. I tried for ages this morning and quite some time this afternoon to get him to flare but he wouldnt. Finaly though, my bf got him flaring and yes, my word, he is a fiesty devil o,O

So yeh! I'm not on a mad rush trying to find something to devide my tank lol

lovely. they're gorgeous.

my females have musically related names (yes im a huge band geek  ) so maybe themed names? i found that helps narrow it down a bit.

Hi All

I keep reading from other members - "dont mix the Betta sexes, there will be a bloodbath", and to be honest I cant figure out if a) most people have not tried it but are afraid of to because of alot of people on sites saying the quote above, or B) I have been really lucky and have had several placid males (1 at a time) who never harmed the 8 -10 females with him at all times.
In my experience, adding females to a males tank (60 L) has him excited and flaring for a few hours before settling down again. I have never added a male to a group of females, only the other way around. Some of the females have all fought amongst themselves for dominant female but that gets sorted quickly too. The mixed sex community has always worked for me. I have encountered the rare female who is crazy, attacking ALL fish ALL the time. They go back to the petshop. My males have always assumed a quiet dominance, stopping the females fighting too much, spreading the food around the tank for them if they get nippy getting to the feeding ring etc. The males I have kept this way have bred successfully with a female from the community, when both put into a separate breeding tank, and have all been great Dads, never eating a single fry despite hunger and exhaustion. So.. maybe I have been blessed but I would suggest trying it to anyone, not just one female though I would put in 3 at least, at the same time, to take any initial pressure from the male off individual females.

Hi Lee,

Glad to hear youve had such luck. My male and female weren't nippy or fighting, but he was bubblenesting and she was so damn flirty so I today devided my tank. I would like babies one day, but not today! I agree it can work out on some occasions. But I wouldn't advise it to a novice. I'm lucky in that I am at home the majority of the day so I can keep very close eye on whats going on in my tanks. However if I was working during the day and busy in the evenings I wouldn't leave them alone together. Thats just me though, paranoid

Ill post some pics of Bubbles doing his thing in a little while. Now hes realised he is a boy and can flare, he just wont stop :hyper:

Ok, here is Bubbles doing HIS thing. He is such a tart
I'm wondering what tail type he is, can anyone tell me? I had guessed at Plakat but I've never had one before so pfff :S
He is only very small, at just a little over an inch, so he is still growing. This can be seen in his tail, though the pictures are bad, so maybe not :p
