I have been asked by members to start a thread her where I can attach images with the description, so here we go!

The aim is to create a display that is both functional and stunning in my home. Over the last few months we have worked hard to both indulge our MTS syndrome and make it look good. So far, we have achieved the result we wanted, and a run of six tanks has been established successfully.

Thats looks smart, are they all linked up so the fish can swim between them or are they seperate tanks?

Wow that a very nice setup. I liked your idea. I guess they arent connecdtd to each other each one is alone. Gr8 setup.

The new shelf will be home for four tanks, two 24", one 48" and one 96". I needed some sort of centerpiece for this side, to complement the mirror on the other wall.

several ideas were talked about, but then I saw this:

This was what I was looking for! I was puzzled as to how the effect was achieved, so put my mind to how to obtain the same result.

Using an old air pump, which I modified to act as a vacuum pump, I ahieved this:

This is a test setup only, but it has achieved the desired result. Now I can get started on the full size version, as I know what I need.

I hope this explains some of my rantings of yesterday!

looking good but how cool would that 1st pic be if they were one long tank ??

The problem there was the depth of the tanks. All those tanks are only 8" deep! Besides, when you look at the contents, I have a wide variety of fish demanding multiple tanks to keep them. In those two tanks are two betta males and four betta females. This would have caused problems, don't you think?

We now have over 130 fish of all sorts spread between the 8 tanks I have now, with two more tanks on the way, and possibly the upside-down one as well. It would not be possible to keep such a wide variety without a number of tanks.

As you say if all one tank then you wouldn't be able to keep so many varieties. Must be hard focusing eye on one tank at a time when something new in its neighbour might grab your attention.

I spend hours just watching all the activity! I very rarely watch TV now, too much else going on. Feeding time takes about an hour, by the time I check that they are all feeding, find that little neon that doesn't appear to be there, only to find that I can't count, looking for that plec that is hiding behind something......

tank 1:
Siamese fighting male
3 Females
2 chinese algae eaters
2 columbian redfin tetras
6 glolight tetras
4 neon tetras

Tank 2:
1 siamese fighter male
1 female
1 drawf gourami male
1 dwarf gourami female
1 golden sucking loach
9 zebra danios
4 neon tetras

Tank 3:
4 pearl gouramis (3 F 1 M)
1 king tiger plec

Tank 4:
4 marble angels
7 white mountain minoes
10 neon tetras
1 golden sucking loach
1 bristlenose plec

Tank 5:
1 plec
9 corydoras
2 clown loaches
9 black neon tetras

Tank 6:
1 small bristlenose plec
2 female mollies
1 sailfin molly
2 swordtails
2 guppies

Tank 7:
4 goldfish
1 fantail
1 koi
9 danios
2 angels
1 adult bristlenose
3 silver (bala) sharks

tank 8:
4 danios
15 neon tetras

I think that's all of them. Might have missd the odd one or two in that lot!

I have had no problem wi them at all! I wonder if it's to do with having other tankmates which gives them other things to think about. I will often see Mr. Chang (RED) chase after one of the femles, but it's only a few seconds, then he goes and finds something else to do, or perhaps chase another one!
Mr. Ching, (BLUE), doesn't bother at all with the females, he is too interested in the ornaments or annoying Jack, the Dwarf Gourami, or maybe getting out of his way, if he's in a mood!

Maybe after you have finished sorting out how nice your tanks look you could focus on the fish you keep. Coldwater and tropical doesnt go, clown loaches need bigger groups and as you say those tanks are only 8" deep the gouramis and bala sharks are to big for them. male and female better wont mix long term abd the tetras will nip at there fins
