my betta has been acting strange today, he itches himself on the aquarium decor and his color is faded to a darkish red
hes red normally
could it be slime disease?

Does your betta have any white spots?

Is he still trying to scratch? Could you post a picture at all? How long have you had him?

You could try a bacterial medication. I have seen bettas at the lfs and they often always have bacterial infections.

ive had him for close to two months

Sometimes it also may depend on what type of food you feed them that can make them change colors. My thought would be to try a bacterial medication if you think he has the slime disease. However it may just be his color changing. It is hard to say. Do you by chance have water stats?

Slime Disease

Slime disease affects the skin of the fish, coating it with an excessive layer of slime. If untreated, as with most diseases, it can kill fish. It can be treated with Methylene Blue, an antiseptic, widely available in all good pet suppliers.

I found that above from an internet site. Also here is a site below that has symptom descriptions and see if you can diagnosis here better maybe.
