Check the pictures out below. Just noticed the male dwarf was being a bit aggresive towards the female. Could he be the culprit and what is the best course of action to sort the female out ?. Sorry about the poor quality pics.

Cheers

Seperate her she dosn't look well to me.
Is that a white patch on top of the head.
If so any red in it.

No red in the white patch Wilder. Looks like an open wound imo. Gonna have trouble seperating her. Have got molly fry in my hospital tank at the moment. Will she be ok in there with them ? They are about 1 cm long now 3-4 weeks old.

She needs a bacterial med like anti internal bacteria med by interpet.
She does need to be away from the other gourami the stress as made her ill.
Put the fry in the main tank.

Can I ask a question very similar to this?

I bought a dwarf gourami today, and when I got home I noticed that the fish I had chosen was not the one in the bag, call me stupid for not noticing but I forgot!!

The fish has two popped out eyes, swolen abdomen, scales are protruding from the face and body around abdomen. The gils are kinda red too.

This is dropsy isn't it?

Since I noticed this when I got home, the fish has not been added to the tank, I dont have a functioning hospital tank yet and the pet store would not remain open an extra 5 minutes for me to return it, so I'm stuck with this fish for tonight. It is not going into my community tank so its still in its bag (bag opened) and its sitting on top of the aquarium hood in a container to try and keep things warm for it until the morning. There is also another dwarf gourami in its bag but it doesn't seem to be infected but i'm not adding this into the aquarium either...will they die overnight while in this bag?

Did I do the right thing in keeping them out of my healthy community tank or am I being over cautious?

It has a very bad bacterial infection, popeye and dropsy get you some info.

Look under dropsy and popeye.
Get medicating the whole tank with the med I suggested further up.

I have now put her in the other tank Wilder. Do you think she has been attacked then ?. If I cant find that med at my lfs, which other would you suggest ?.

Thanks for your help again

Esha 2000 will check on that one for you.
There isn't many the watelife one don't bother.
There is a jbl med but it wipes the bacteria colony out in your filter, though saying that it didn't with mine.

Thanks Wilder, I'm lucky that I didn't add the fish to the tank so I wont have to treat all the fish. These two fish are going back to the store tomorrow morning, I just hope they survive the night!

To be honest dosn't sound like they will make it bless them.
I would get your money back as they were sick when you bought them.
Good luck.
