Parrot Fish Has Problems With Head

Well peeps, I only joined this forum a few weeks ago enquiring about problem Ph which is now under control and here I am again with another problem!!! :crazy:

One of my Parrot fishes has what can only be described as white mucus like bits/growths on his head and you can also see little red veins on his head too. He has taken to hiding in the plants and looks a bit sorry for himself. He feeds OK at the moment.
The other fish seem fine.

Tank - established
PH - 6 - 6.5 (regular water changes with chlorine nutraliser)
GH and KH OK - maintained by regular water change
No probs known with ammonia and nitrate/ite
170 litre internal filtration

Am going to take a water sample to my local shop for testing, but it was fine a week ago and I monitor the Ph daily at the moment.


Any ideas?

Update and bump! they look more like white warts on it's head now, still with red thread like veins showing.

any ideas?
 
Sounds like it bacterial with the red veins that can be septicemia.
Get medicating fast as septicemia can soon kill a fish, once it progresses though no cure.
Can you load a pic up.
 
Sorry about the blurry pics, but you get the idea of the white wart like things on it's head. What medication do you recommend if it is what you say - I'm in the UK.

Do the spots look fluffy as they do in the pic.
 
a bit, yeah. Last night and this morning they were much more fluffy and waved in the water. Now they are much closer to the head and look like raised warts. That is the best way I can describe them. kind of like 6-7 raised white warts on the head only......

Ph can cause alot of problems in fish.
It looks bacterial, can you issolate the fish for treatment.
Anti internal bacteria med by interpet and pimafix.
Or myxazin by waterlife and pimafix.
 
With the red veins though I would try and get the interpet med over the waterlife one.
Have to act fast though as the fish is going to get worse fast.
 
Never noticed that was looking at the white things.
Could be the angle of the pic.
Pilsburypie does the fish look thin.

but theres no way a parrot should like that from ANY angle i am looking at my parrot now from the same angle!!!

Yes, the fish is thin - was when the Ph was a problem - that is now sorted and the fish is eating as normal again - really excited and energetic when food added. Just yesterday noticed these wart things on its head. Will get down to the fish shop 1st thing tomorrow and get the recommended meds.

Ok so he lost weight though not eating and now he is, thats good then as losing weight not good news.
