Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): Dwarf Pearl Gourami was living in a 30gal establish tank (1 year) with 5 serpae tetras, 2 platies, 2 cories. No new fish. He is the newest, about 4 months. Noticed 2 weeks ago a small red lesion on his lower fin. Moved him to the hospital tank 1 week ago. He's listless. Not eating. Stringy poop? (where is the anus of this fish anyway?) This stringy stuff is not coming from the rear end. It's more near the front, near it's feelers, and keeps getting tangled up in them for that matter. It's not coming from it's gills that I can see though.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: Faithfully - 1 x weekly. 20%

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: Parasite guard in hospital tank. 1/4 tsp. Melafix 1/4 tsp. Any other suggestions?

Tank inhabitants: See above for old tank. No illness in old tank.

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): None

Exposure to chemicals: None

The picture is not very vivid, but it's the spot just below that red V is bright red. Almost looks like raw meat.

Thanks for any help - suggestions.

Its a sore i think, you can try using some melafix, but use half the dose it says on the bottle Doh sorry you are already using it.

Forgot about he stringy poop, hes constipated, fast him and give him a cooked shelled mushed up pea

Forget the melafix sores can soon be holes.
Any white dead skin around the sore.
I would go in with maracyn.

There's no dead skin around it that I can see. It's getting bigger though. It almost looks like what I would think an ulcer would look like. I did pick up some meracyn. Should I do a water change first? I did a 20% yesterday, but the water has melafix in it, plus parasite clear.

The melafix would of been ok but if you have parasite clear med in yes a water change.
Increase aeration.
Good luck.
