How much do you pay for your goldfish bowls? Im after one for a betta. They seem so exspensive just for a glass bowl! Around here theyre 10 -19 +!
So how much do you pay for JUST THE BOWL?

Well my lfs doesn't sell glass bowls, but they do sell small acrylic tanks ranging from 1gals to around 8gallons from around £5-10's- if you go for small acrylic tanks instead of glass ones (like the one in your avatar), they'll be much cheaper :good: . The lfs is called Watermarque in Yeovil in Somerset.
No here though buys bowls for goldfish though (goldfish are simply too large for them, plus many other reasons why you shouldn't put them in bowls), bowls are for betta's only- if you are looking for a betta bowl, i wouldn't go for anything under 2gals  .

i wouldnt really have just a bowl u really need a fish tank with heating filter you can find tanks in fish shops around 30 pounds with heater n filter....much happier fish n you could also have a few corys or a drawf frog with him they will look much better honest.....this tank was £30.00

easy answer, the bowls are overpriced, crappy waste of glass.
wey too small for bettas and no way of heating or filtering.
a small 3-5 gallojn including filter, heater and sometimes lights can be round about £50.
not bad for all included

I got pets at homes childsafe tropical kit which includes a good filter, heater and strip light. It costs £49.99 and its 21 gallons so if your going for a smaller tank, im guessing so anyway if you were wanting a bowl, then this ones lovely and it looks really nice being hexagonal :)

The aqua one 320 is about £40 to 50 for the tank which comes with under gravel filter, lights, and at a garden centre near me, a free heater!

I wouldn't bother with a bowl to be honest for the reasons mentioned above. The only bowl type tank i would consider would be a bi-orb. But these are very expensive, you pay for the style, not what you get.

I agree. Biorbs are highly overpriced. Secondly there is not fish which can adequatly be kept in the small acrillic bowl which we see on sale at pets at home etc. The bowl i bought is large ( 20 gallons ) and has and filtration system etc.. For fish keeping, i would not advice a tank of less than 20 gallons. There are some species of fish, i.e. Dwarf puffer, Betta splendens, White cloud and a vareity of tetra which can be kept in snaller tank But, species of puffer i.e. Dwarf puffer ar'nt really for the begger due to their intolerance of nitrates etc. Tetras are generally shoaling fish so a larger tank would be required to house a shoal.
The aqua one 320 is most definatly the best value tank iv seen. Usually £40 for a coldwater and £50 for heated. These make good begginer tanks providing larger fish are avoided...

I got an 11 litre critter keeper sort of thing from wilkinsons for £4.99 and after shopping around on tesco direct there's abowl for £9.97 thats 40 litres. Not bad considering you can get a small filter of ebay for a fiver! x

I saw that, it's a typo :) 4 litres, not 40.

Well that sucks it says it in both the catalogue and the internet I thought as it measured 30cm x 30cm x 30cm it might of actually been right never mind x

Even a glass tank of those dimensions would only be 5/6g or so, plus Tesco are probably including the standy bit...

Yeah I was always crappy at dimensions and volume! Oh well got all excited over nothing then! x
