I've been treating my tank with melafix and pimafix as one of killifish is presenting a white growth on her side. This morning my peppermint pleco seems to be breathing faster and comes out of his castle which is very odd in daylight. Also since this treatment was added one of other killi's seems to be flicking.

I increased oxygen levels when i put in the meds and have raised it again now just in case thats whats the matter. Should i do a water change??? If i do this it may help Trebor but my other killies seems to need this treatment??

HELP ASAP PLEASE!!!

TY XX

killi's need soft water, if u have access to soft water then they be a little better.

Water changes are always my first approch.

Do you have a spare tank set up? If not then I would suggest a water change immediately. This happened to me not so long ago. Have you checked the levels in the tank? Is the Pleco still eating?

Levels in tank are fine, i've checked those. Never sure if he eats coz he's always hidden away and is fed with an algae wafer at nights just before lights out in the house. I'll have to do a water change then:(

Meds can make fish flick.
Ditch the melafix, and use myxazin and pimafix.

Why do u think my pelc is now poorly?? I did a 50% water change and put carbon back in the filter to get rid of all the meds in there then i can start again. It's so annoying.

Run some black carbon for two days and start again.
Melafix is no good on columnaris.

So thats what it is then? I did wonder. None of the others has got it, just this one. I just don't want to harm trebor in the process of helping another.

Thanks for writing back xx

HOpe these show ok, not done it before. I havent the greatest camera in the world. I must admit from some angles it just looks like a mark but when you look at her head on you can see the mark is more fluffy.

Can't make it out to well on the pic, but if it's fluffy it columnaris and it can present it's self on the head.
Myxazin and pimafix.

Thank you. Hoping it will go, she's fine other than that. Just keepin an eye on my plec, bit worried x

Need to get treating fast, a bad strain of columnaris can wipe a tank out in hours.
Good luck.
