the only thing i can think of is i have recently bought a torch coral and now both clowns are in it practically every day! is the torch stining the little guy?
also my ph is a little on the high side, im working on reducing this at the mo (anyone know a good way?) its 8.9
any help would be greatly appreciated!!

hmmm some stats ive checked today phos = 0 nitrate = less than .1 salinity 1.023 everything else in the tank is hunky dory

thanks
Andy

The clown wouldnt of been stung cos they have a coat of slime to protect them, thats how they survive anenomes. From the pic it looks like a cotton growth, and if im right its an infection from a cut or summit. I know u can use melafix and primafix on marine fish and inverts however i wldnt try it in the main tank.

Yeah looks like either a tumor or an infection. Either way there probably isnt much you can do for it other than keep it well-fed and keep your fingers crossed. Quarantine might work, but I gotta be honest, I dont know

In one of my books i seem to remember that if it is a tumor the clown will live happily until its time but i wld of classed it more of a infection its too white for a tumor. When my fish are a ill i leave them and let nature take its toll, know its lazy but every time they have pulled through, just keep their vitamins protiens up and shld be ok with any luck. :good:

no problems thanks guys! i think ill leave him too himself and see how he goes. ill add some garlic into his diet to help and carry on as usual, i am lothed to use any treatments on fish espeically in a reef i find most cause more problems than they cure!

fingers crossed!!

Yep goodluck and like the other posters have said keep any type of treatments out the tank especially anything with copper in it.

Goodluck hope the lil guy pulls through

my clown had lump near its fin just behind it it got so bad he cudn't use his fin eventually the skin broke and the tissue came out then it calmed down he's been fine since just keep him well fed like ski said maybe garlic to boost the immune system
good luck with the little guy

heya guys! im sorry to report my little clown didnt make it

but i think i have now found out why!! like i said the only thing i added to the tank recently was the torch coral (or so i thought :grr: )

what crab is this?

i have a feeling hes a nasty little bugger!! my other clown now has large chunks out of two of his fins and guess what hes living in the torch coral!!

i will be catching him tomorrow by any means needed! and ill take him to my lfs and see what they think
if you can id him for me i would really appreciate it as it will put my mind at ease nothing in the tank is wrong, i cant find any other reason for my clowns to be battered they were fine until i added the torch.

Thanks
Andy

If you find out can you post back 'cause I have something similar living in my tank! :p

ok caught the little git and took him to my lfs!

he is a teddybear crab if you have one get him out! they are very territorial of their homes, and will attack anything that comes in range!

definatley not reef safe so be aware guys!!
