hi all,
i have a 2 gal breeding tank setup for one of my preg. platies it does have gravel and a 3 stage filteration system with some plants in the corner

is this enough(or too much) :S :S

You can use it as a fry tank for a short period of time (around a couple of months depending on the amount of fry you have) but it will need heating as fry are quite sensitive to temperature fluctuations (heating will help prevent these). Before you put any fish in it though it will be better to clone the filter media or cycle it in the main tank first, as cycling tank conditions are not good for pregnant fish (the unstable water quality conditions can cause them to abort their fry or produce weak batches of fry), see here for info on cycling;

Ideally the bigger the tank the better for fry, as you will be able to raise larger quantities of fry for longer periods of time in a larger tank, but a 2gal will be adequate for a while depending on the amount of fry your pregnant platy produces :thumbs: .

ya any way it her first preg cause i raised it from another batch. anyway its a red wag tail and i breed it with a type i cant really identify? can any1 tell me wat it is and wat kind of fish i should expect? 100_0368.jpg
here is my breeding tank pics coming soon so keep cheking bak!

Fry will be a mix of mother and father, not necessarily looking exactly like either You'll have to wait and see. That fish probably has a bit of Gold Twin Bar Platy in it based on the two stripes on the tail.

Undergravel filters are a hassle to clean and when not cleaned, they are breeding grounds for waste. I would get rid of it if you can unless you're really going to keep up with the maintenance. It's not really worth it in my experience.
