Hi all,

Im new here and just wanted to ask a quick question. What type of Platies are these? I've searched around and cannot find a picture of a Platy with the same markings as mine. They look similar to what I've seen called the "Mickey Mouse" Platy but without the black spot at the base of the tail. Help is appreciated and sorry for about the pics...

They've just had a spawning of 18 happy healthy fry!

Cheers.

They are gold twin bar platys, they also come in a variety of other colours like orange and red, but the two black stripes on the tail are always present. They are just a pattern/colour variation of the standard platy, so can breed with all the other colour and pattern variations like the mickey mouse, calico, and painted platy etc- you will need to get a clearer pic of their anal fins though to find out what gender they are, ideally you should have at least 2-3females per male if you have a mixed gender group  .
