Your tank is to small for a Flamehawk & they are also concidered to be NON-Reef Safe

They are generally considered non-reef safe due to their eating habits, but if you dont have any inverts, or dont mind them being eaten, thats no problem. I do agree though, a 14g is too small for a Flame Hawk. Id suggest a 30g tank. They arnt open water swimmers, more perchers, but they are active. I hope he is moving though, how long after acclimation was that pic taken? He is slightly off colour, and sitting on the floor, which is a bit concerning.

That pic was taken today and I put him in yesterday. He is moving around the tank but is still getting used to his new home. A friend from my LFS actually recommended him for my tank and thats why I got the flame. But yes I have been reading that it may not be the best home for him. He has also been staying on the substrate. Take him back? what do ya think?

if he isnt looking to healthy thehn he could go down the pan pretty fast :/ give it a day or two more if he percs up then fine if he dpesnt then take him back. also depends if you really want to keep a fish of that genre in a small tank and is it fair on the hawk.

I think he's doing ok, moving around and his color looks fine, I'll probably take him back tomorrow though, there's alot of LR in the tank and he may not have enough room to move around as much as he may like. I would rather he have a more suitable tank then to keep him. What are some opinions on bengai cardinals...think thats the one that was also recommended from the LFS. 14G is prob too small for him too.

its 30gallons for bangais lovely tings but if you dont have the room resist the urge to add one
