I bought a cleaning crew from an online retailer and it arrived this morning around 10:30. I just got home from work and putted the bags in the tank. I will be acclimating the whole crew for about two hours. It's about time I get some stuff in that tank. It was a long wait, but in the end I think it's all worth it and cheaper. I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me get to this point.

:good:

invertabrates need to be acclimtised correctly they are very sensitive to changes. i would do a drip acclimitation method to be safe

Pictures please :D

I don't have a good digi cam just my cell. I'll see if I can take a few pics.

I was planning on doing the drip method, but I don't have the Clear vinyl tubing :(

Doesnt your powerhead come with a small air line tube? Mine does and its used for aeration. But I think you can use it for drip acclimation. I've never tried the drip method because I'm too lazy. Plus all my fish and inverts always do well with the floating method. :good:

I'm trying to McGiveer something with the tube I use to drain water out of the tank.

What do you do just add a little water at the time in the floating bags?

I did the drip method and i think it went well. I then put them back into the bags because the water in the tank was a little warmer than the bucket. Everything is in the tank, lots of stuff has moved.

The brittle star are now hidding under the live rock. Some snails were racing across the bottom until they made a dash to the top of the tank. The shrimp is on the rocks and it seems to be eating. Some stuff hasn't moved yet.

Will the clam move by themselves?

This is wicked cool to see all that life going on. It was worth the time.

The black mollies seems a little traumatized....

That's just the tank like I said I just have a camera phone and it's not the best thing ever

You can on the right the pile of stuff are the invertebrate. I put them all in the same corner because I want to make sure they move. If they don't move they must be dead.

Clams move sometimes, but not others... How much LR is that in what size tank. Looks a little light

30 lbs....that's all I could afford at the time. I'm planning on tripling that quantity. That will give me around 90 lbs of live rock. Is it an issue to add the rock after adding the fish and the invert?

If the LR in cured it will be ok how far has it got to travel to get to you?

Anything more than 3 hours then I'd want to but it in a bucet of SW with a PH and heat for a few days and moniter the NH and NO's

As ski said> what size tank is that?

55G I was thinking about buying it online and have it overnighted here.

When you get it, it should smell fresh and like good quality seafood. If you get it and it has a bad odour and it smells like rotten seafood, youll need to cure it. This can be done in a few larger tubs/buckets, with a powerhead and a heater. Allow all the die-off to occur in the buckets before adding to your tank. Considering youve only got clean up crew, you should be ok putting it in the tank directly if it smells ok, but if it stinks too bad, dont risk it.
