Change the substrate to sand and get some real plants. Change the background to something more real, maybe a plain background like blue or black.

Thanks i was thinking changing substrate and backing. And the plants are real, i bought them a couple of days a go.

again sorry for the bad pic, i had tank light on, and room light off, but when i turn the flash off my camera, it just blurs because of camera shake, and i dont have a tripod. So im not sure what to do.

Cool shrimp! I must say, you have VERY good taste in stocking, I want to stock my tank like that! If I was you thought I wouldn't get sand, it looks very unsightly with the bristlenose poo all over it, i've got three of them and they are messy little buggers, even with weekly gravel vacs. I'd say a black background, as it looks much better, as i've had experience with both, blue, black and planted, black looks much better against both the fish and the plants. Also, i'd go for a black gravel, it also makes the plants and fish stand out, and maybe even get something like eco-complete or flourite to put under it for your plants if you decide to get more?

For a first go its not bad, granted again i dislike fake tanks (colour gravel etc). Id love to see that with natural gravel or the really fine black coal gravel. (not a huge fan of the current craze for sand).
I think also you would find your fish colours glow if you got more plants and made some nice heavy planted areas with a swimming area at the front, put your wood through the plants rather than just sitting right up front.

I would love more plants too, but more worried about co2. I dont understand it. Im just chuffed at the moment, that everything has survived. This was originally a cold water tank, and I hadnt changed the gravel from before, but i am gonna change it at some point, and will be changing the backing next weekend.

You don't need Co2 for plants, unless your heavily planting and have quite high light input. There is many plants you can grow with standard lights and without Co2, i've never had any problems and all my lights are standard and i've yet to make DIY Co2.

Thats good, i was worried that my plants were gonna die at some point. I think I got standard lights too, they came with the tank when I bought it.
