I haven't got any plant weights, and only need to weigh down one plant.

What's the best and safest way to do this?

Thanks

Jee

The roots should be enough to anchor the plant in the substrate.

What plant is it? If it's a stem then try floating the plant for a while, the higher lighting and CO2 should allow it to send out new roots. Cut the stem up to the roots and bury in the substrate.

Hi George,

I Have tried every plant under the sun, and as I house two parrots, they tend to munch everything.

However, I got hold of some anubias today, as i've not tried that. It's lasted more than a few hours, so has my respect. However, they do keep digging it up so i'd like to at least weigh it down to make it a bit harder for them...

Thanks,

Jee

I use foam wrapped round the base just above the roots then strip lead around that.

Most Anubias does best attached to decor i.e. wood or rocks. You can use cotton thread.

If the rhizome (the part between the leaves and roots) is buried then it may rot.

thanks George,

I'll sort that out and stick it on my driftwood!

Try an onion plant and java fern, even cichlids tend to leave those alone :/

Also I put a lettuce leaf (not iceberg) in my discus tank daily for them to nibble on, they love it! Also because it's nice and tender for them to eat, they tend to leave the plants alone

Greedy! :p

Hi Anita,

My last order of Java fern was eaten in less than a day!

I will look up the onion plant...

Thanks,

Jee
