awsome tank. what brand of filter do u use? TOTM for sure. Cant wait to get mine but its not gonna be anywere to as good as urs.

thanx for the comments everyone.

lionfish- i use a sump filter, its basicaly another glass tank (in this case 36x15x18) under the display tank. there are two 1.5" holes drilled through the base of the display tank and the water pours via gravity down a pipe into the sump and then there are two large return pumps to take the water back up again. in the sump i have

a pre-filter
1 rowaphos reactor
1 deltec ap600 protein skimmer
about 5lt of coral gravel as biomedia

you can get them made but i built this one myself-its not hard and a lot cheaper.

oh and ther is about 30 kg of live rock in the display tank and a refugium which all help.

That is definatly the one of the best filters you can get! Good tank too! TOTM - BTW, I think the only reason you lost the past competitions was because of the camera postions, etc. You always deserved to win! How much did everything cost up to now?

I think it has cort me over £1000 without livestock. but I built it up overtime so i don't know exactly and i don't intend to find out anytime soon in case of heart failure

(sometimes I think I must be mad to spend so much money on it but I enjoy it and its good fun so why not :wub:

As always, your tank is absolutely stunning Ste2K3. I have never seen one so nice in real life and certainly yours takes the cake on here. Knowing the cost, time, and care involved in setting up and maintaining a tank like that... whoa... all respect, man. Incredible job. :wub:

Let's definitely get that whole tank pic in tank of the month. You're long overdue.

What if the electricity goes out??? how do you stop water from going into the sump tank?

ryansfish5g- if the power goes off, then the top 2" of water will drain back in to the sump. This is because the pipes going in are at the surface and the holes through the base have a standpipe going to the surface this gives the advantage of drawing organic rich water as well. there is enough capacity in the sump to cope with this.

living_dead- thinking about it but don't have one as yet. never had a powercut for years.
