OKAY, so I decided to invest in a tank test kit. I am afraid I will obsessively test my tank now....
If anyone could help tell me what these results mean:
So I started my tank on 11-16-03
Added BIO-Spira and 3 fish on 11-17-03
These tests were on 11-21-03
TEMP - 82 F
water is semi-cloudy
slight odor from filter, but not water
Ammonia - 1 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
pH - 7.6
GH - 143.2 ppm
Nitrate - 0 ppm
High range pH - 7.4

The filter has something growing on it....Is that good bacteria? or algae?
It smells too...

Did you cycle? *loads fn-p90 assault rifle and gets into a German assault tank and grabs the m-16 that lies inside*

Get that stuff that gets rid of cloudiness. If you don't I got my trusty full force arsenal. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

i am sorry i have to bring this topic back up but, does the kit include something to adjust? or just to test?

reply asap

thanks

The best way to clean your filter is to swish it around in the bucket when you change your water. That is preferred to rinsing it in tap water b/c tap water will kill all the beneficial bacteria in the filter. Cloudy water could be caused by over feeding your fish. How much are you feeding them and how often?

I have that first test kit. As far as I know it just tests. There's nothing in the instructions that say you can add it to your tank to adjust anything.

What are you needing to adjust??

I have the first kit too - and it just tests, nothing else. The name "Master Test Kit" kinda gives it away. :p

EDIT - actually, I have the interpet version which doesn't have the Gh test but includes nitrate instead.
