Can I Get A Betta?

i have a trop.comm. tank w/
2 mky mouse plattys
6 black skirt tetras
2 angels 1 big 1 small
4 corys
1 common plec 8 inches long =)

in a 30 us gallon tank planted


plz tell me i would love a betta.

Not with the angels. Not sure about the others but I know the angels will not work with the bettas.
 
The angels are a no-no. The betta might harrass the angel, the angel might do the same. Some tetras are fin nippers. Sorry, but he needs to be in another home. :sad:
 
Another thing to consider with bettas in community tanks: if the filter creates much in the way of a current, your betta would be most unhappy. They like still water as their fins aren't built for fighting currents. I shudder to think about the time I gave this a try: after going to great lengths to create a "betta corner" in my 46-gal. away from the filter & sheltered by tall rocks & plants; the poor guy was pretty much thrown around by the current & never even found his betta corner; he was back in his 2-gal tank within 5 minutes.

Do you have any experience with this and plakats? My plakat boy loves current, but he might be an exception to the rule.

There's always exceptions, but I agree with you on this... it's better to be on the safe side anyway.
