I have 3 sunset mollies, 2 girls and a boy, both girls are pregnant (he is father to both  ) Today all 3 of them are poking around in the live plants? For my first female molly this is her second lot of fry, the first lot got eaten. And for the second female, its her first lot (shes not as big). How on earth can i tell when they are gonna drop so i can put them in my twin breeder unit? I wanna keep my fry this time, hopefully!

p.s if its 30 days since her last lot of fry shes due on the 8th sept.

I think when it looks like the stomach has drop down a little and the belly is huge is the time to put in the twin breeder

she is the top molly in this pic, see how large she is compared to the male??

Holy (beep)

I have no experience with mollies, but with my guppies, the stomach becomes a little squarish, like.. it loses its round shape.. thats when i move em.. but wow.. your's is big!

Good luck

After getting loads of advice from guys from this forum (great advice) and just having my first batch of Molly fry myself, I would advice against a breeder (for the Molly). What I found worked really well, was putting a tank divider and leaving the Molly in that section til she's given birth, then I took the fry out and put them in the breeding trap. Breeding traps can really stress the Mollies out and can make them abort. Now what I have done is put the Mollie back in the original tank she was in and all the fry are in the tank divider section. If you might not be around when she gives birth, put loads of plants in the birthing section for the fry to hide in because mum will eat some, but they have more chance if the fry can hide.

Hope this helps
