my red fin shark only has a red tail, with a black dorsal fin. can anyone explaine please

also notice the red crab just below, its taken to living in that plant, only comes down to feed and goes up for air and somewhere dry!

There IS such a thing as a red tailed black shark.......just to confuse you!

yours is a red tailed black shark i also have one.......the red finned shark has red fins and are smaller then red tailed http/www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/Fishindx/epal-fre.htm

Epalzeorhynchos frenatum yep thanks. do redtail sharks go grey as they get bigger? all the rainbow sharks i have seen do!

RTBS stay black as they get full size. However, they get extremely aggressive and territorial.

thats funny, long long time ago when i was a child i had a red tail shark, and have never been able to find them, only the rainbow sharks, didnt know they were actually different, thought it was a name variation.
