put it at the side of your tank, put two pieces of slate down then put the other peice on top of it

so kind of like _---_ so there is a small opening, then dig out some of the subtrate so that when the cat gets into the cave it is big inside and you can see you fish when it goes into the cave :)

I've also seen this one where they put on rock on top of another, the put another rock to lean on the side of the other to it looks like this /= if u understand... its kinda wierd.. but you wnated inspiration right? lol

Why dont you try experimenting with your own ideas, you might find something you like

Good luck :good: :good:

Here is my tank with slate, not so many 'caves' but i like a lot of open water space for my fish. I tend to use large pieces as well but its all a matter of personal preferance. :good:

Here are 2 pictures of the caves I built for my loaches a while back. They seem to really like it. I did it in like 5 mins., so I could have done better. I can get a better, close up picture tonight if you want me too.

here is the cave in the tank at last!
thanks for all your help, no-one has moved in yet but a few of the inmates have had a good look over it.
at the moment the rusty plec seems like the favourite to get it as he's spent the most time around it. i'll keep you posted.
